Other Current Leadership Positions: Re-elected in 2020, Mother Lucy is Superior General of DLJC, a Catholic Charismatic Franciscan Religious Institute of Sisters. DLJC’s Mother House is in Prayer Town, Texas, in the Diocese of Amarillo.
Past Renewal and Catholic Apostolate Leadership Positions: DLJC Superior General 2002 to 2014 (first and second term); Board member of the National Service Committee of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the USA (now dba Pentecost Today USA) between 2012 and 2020.
Personal: Born in Grand Island, Nebraska, as a child Linda Kay Lukasiewicz was inspired to read Scripture, impart God’s love, and happily serve God. She was the second of four children, and she grew up in rural Nebraska. Mother Lucy speaks other languages, including Spanish and Polish.
Vocational: The vibrant faith of her family was the ideal setting for the seed of a religious vocation to grow. Her spiritual life was profoundly impacted by her parents’ Cursillo retreat experience and her grandmother’s mentoring in prayer and deepening of faith. At age 17, she became aware of the Renewal and experienced charismatic prayer meetings and baptism in the Holy Spirit. Two years later she became a DLJC novice, receiving the name Sister Lucy, and she professed first vows in 1984 and final vows in 1988. Saying “yes” to the Lord in religious life was a fulfillment of her baptismal call. Mother Lucy’s greatest joy is praising the Lord and bringing people to a deeper realization of a great God who has a plan for their life. Her heart says, “Lord, I am your servant. I have come to do Your will.”
